Last week, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor went to the actor Bill Murray. The award ceremony took place in Washington, D.C., at the luxurious Kennedy Center. It gathered a great number of celebrities who came to salute the famous American comedian, with Steve Martin, Jimmy Kimmel, and David Letterman being among them.
This star-studded event was going very smoothly until Miley Cyrus went on the stage with her version of “My Way.”
This platinum-selling singer started to sing with confidence and real courage, but soon she messed up the words and repeatedly cursed during the rest of the performance. The situation was extremely unpleasant.
This was a day after Miley Cyrus took part in the election campaign for Hillary Clinton in Virginia.
After her unfortunate slip-up, she tried to explain herself and confessed to the audience that she forgot the words because she had smoked too much and got too stoned.
Murray, who was in the balcony and did not have a microphone, came to Cyrus’s rescue from his seat. He joked with the audience and tried to keep it cheerful, and then the 66-year-old comedian suggested the singer made a second attempt at the song. Miley Cyrus and her crew did it again, and that time they nailed it.
The ceremony was broadcast on PBC last Friday.
