Marijuana Growing Book Wins Benjamin Franklin Award

Can you imagine that a book dedicated to marijuana can win an independent book award? This year, this dream of many cannabis fans came true. In April, the Independent Book Publishers Association gave the Benjamin Franklin Award to The Cannabis Encyclopedia written by Jorge Cervantes (George Van Patten).

The Cannabis Encyclopedia became the very first marijuana-focused book to win an award from the conventional publishing industry. The book tells about the most significant things every weed grower or consumer should know: from the common rules of responsible marijuana consumption to helpful guides on growing weed indoors, outdoors, or in greenhouses.

Curiously, The Cannabis Encyclopedia was not the first Cervantes' book focused on marijuana cultivation. Previously, the author wrote books titled Marijuana Horticulture, Marijuana Grow Basics, and Indoor Marijuana but these books were not as successful as the latest Cervantes' work.

In order to complete The Cannabis Encyclopedia, the writer visited dozens of marijuana growing sites in the Netherlands, Spain, and the U.S. In his book, Cervantes tells about various weed farming techniques they use in different countries and how these techniques can change marijuana's taste or flavor. But the main feature of the book is that every technique the author talks about is accompanied by comprehensive instructions and colorful step-by-step photos. The information about grow room design and greenhouse construction is also accompanied by detailed photos.

Even if you are not into cultivating marijuana in your house, the book contains a lot of valuable information that can help improve your cannabis experience. Jorge Cervantes's book is focused mostly on medical cannabis. There is a part dedicated to medical weed history and a part where you can read about making cannabis a part of your daily meals.

It looks like Jorge Cervantes wants to make his guide to consuming and cultivating cannabis available for all the marijuana fans across the globe. As of today, the book was translated into seven languages, including Russian and Japanese. Next year, a Spanish version of The Cannabis Encyclopedia will also be released.

It is worth mentioning that The Cannabis Encyclopedia received the Benjamin Franklin Award for excellence in book publishing. This award is considered one of the most prestigious awards an independent publisher may be honored with. Moreover, all the IBPA's awards are administered not only by the Association itself, but also by an assisting group of experts, including designers, editors, and even bookstore owners.
